The Tribune-Democrat is a Community First Holdings, Inc. newspaper serving the residents of Johnstown and west central Pennsylvania.
Today's Tribune-Democrat began in 1853 as a weekly newspaper, the Cambria Tribune. That newspaper was renamed the Johnstown Tribune and grew to a daily newspaper in 1873.
The Johnstown Democrat was founded as a weekly newspaper in 1863 and changed to a daily paper in 1888. Until 1952, the Johnstown Tribune published in the afternoons and the Johnstown Democrat published in the mornings. In 1952, the two papers were merged into an all-day paper called the Tribune-Democrat.
The Sunday edition started March 6, 1977 and after the 1977 flood, the Tribune-Democrat became a morning newspaper.
The Tribune-Democrat is proud of its heritage and commitment to this community. We strive to keep pace with the changing technology in the newspaper industry. We are also committed to employing dedicated personnel to produce a quality product for our customers so that we can continue to serve this community with pride into the next century.
