Mr. and Mrs. Frank Alcamo of Upper Yoder Township have marked their 65th wedding anniversary.
Mr. Alcamo and the former Josephine Giusto were married June 22, 1944, at St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church, Windber, by the Rev. Aloysius Hankinson.
Mr. Alcamo was born May 25, 1920, in South Fork, son of Carmelo and Antonia Alcamo.
Mrs. Alcamo was born Jan. 13, 1922, in Windber, daughter of Carl and Carmela Giusto.
Mr. Alcamo is a retired Windber Area High School principal and author of four published histories of Windber, South Fork, Summerhill and the former Moxham Bank.
He currently serves as director of Johnstown Discovery Center, CBW Schools Federal Credit Union, AAA of Southern Pennsylvania and vice president of Greater Johnstown Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
He served as a Naval officer during World War II.
Mrs. Alcamo is a retired elementary teacher from Windber schools.
They are graduates of the former State Teachers College, Indiana, Pa., where they met in 1940.
Mr. Alcamo is a 1942 graduate of Indiana and earned a master’s degree in 1954 from Penn State.
The Alcamos are members of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Upper Yoder Township.
They are the parents of a daughter, Antoinette, wife of Nick Taranto, Upper Yoder Township.
There are four grandchildren: Dr. Joseph and Saki Taranto and Bryon and Antoinette Berkowitz, all of Denver, Colo.
There are three great-grandchildren.
