Luthers note 50th date

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Roger Luther of Johnstown have noted their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner hosted by their children at Red Lobster, followed by a reception for family and friends at the Arbutus Park Retirement Community.

Their four children and grandchildren put on a talent/variety show at the reception in their honor.

Mr. Luther and the former Bonnie Krise were married April 6, 1963, at the Salix United Methodist Church.

The Luthers are 1959 graduates of Richland High School and lived out-of-state for a number of years during Mr. Luther’s engineering career, followed by 29 years in the Ligonier area, before retiring and moving to Arbutus Park Retirement Community.

While in Ligonier, they owned and operated The Berry Patch, a small farm specializing in pick-your-own blueberries.

Mr. Luther is retired from the Florence Mining Co., and they later owned and operated four Subway restaurants in the area.

He is an active member of the Johnstown RC Club, and serves as the newsletter editor and webmaster.

Mrs. Luther is an active artist and teaches a watercolor class at Arbutus, and at the Oak Grove Art Club in Ligonier. She also is an active gardener, singer and is interested in herbs.

They are active members of Belmont United Methodist Church, where they sing in the choir.

The Luthers are the parents of four children: Ted of Scottsdale, Ariz.; Amy Krieger of Wyomissing, Pa.; Dan of Mountain Top, Pa.; and Beth Eger of Wexford, Pa.

There are 11 grandchildren.
