Oleksas observe 64th anniversary

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Oleksa of Johnstown have observed their 64th wedding anniversary with a surprise celebration at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House, 441 Theatre Drive, Johnstown.

Mr. Oleksa and the former Helen Catherine Cushman were married July 30, 1949, at Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, East Conemaugh, by the Rev. John Kolcun.

Mr. Oleksa was born May 13, 1923, in Coy, Indiana County, son of Michael and Suzanna Oleksa.

Mrs. Oleksa was born April 15, 1929, in Johnstown, daughter of Michael and Eva Cushman.

Mr. Oleksa is a Navy veteran of World War II. He is the retired owner of the former Oleksa’s B-29 Tavern, Brownstown.

Mrs. Oleksa works with the Brownstown Election Board.

The Oleksas are the parents of three children: Stephany, widow of Andrew Puniak, and Vanessa, widow of Dennis Flowers, both of Johnstown; and Larry, married to the former Karen Christofes, Vintondale.

There are seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
