Youchaks celebrate 60th anniversary

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Youchak of Johnstown have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a celebration Mass and blessing at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, followed by a luncheon at the Boulevard Grill with immediate family.

Mr. Youchak and the former Virginia A. Konieczny were married June 6, 1953, at the former St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, Windber.

Mr. Youchak was born July 15, 1924, in Johnstown, son of Michael Youchak and Catherine (Dubna) Youchak Bilas.

Mrs. Youchak was born July 19, 1928, in Windber, daughter of John and Antonia (Cebula) Konieczny.

Mr. Youchak was reared in the Moxham section of Johnstown. He is a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, Battle of the Bulge, earning a Purple Heart.

He is an alumnus of Johnstown High School and the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

He was briefly employed by Brooklyn Hospital Manufacturing Co. and Berkebile Brothers Construction Co. before joining Pennsylvania Electric Co. for 20 years. He retired as the architectural supervisor with Penelec in 1986.

He was/is a member of various bowling leagues and card playing clubs.

Mr. Youchak is an active member of Knights of Columbus, Westmont Council 104; VFW Post 155; and Penelec Retired Supervisors Club; and a life member of Moxham Oldtimers Club.

Mrs. Youchak was reared in the Mine 37 section of Windber. She is an alumnus of Richland High School.

She was briefly employed by Bestform Inc., before joining Nutrition Inc. She was employed at Meadowvale (East Side) Elementary School’s cafeteria for 34 years, retiring in 2008.

She was/is a member of various ceramic-making clubs, bowling leagues and card playing clubs.

Mrs. Youchak is an active member of Polish National Association.

The Youchaks are members of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church.

They are the parents of three children: Thomas M. Youchak, Palm Beach, Fla.; Greg Youchak, and wife, Blanca, Pittsburgh; and Michael T. Youchak, Pittsburgh.

There are two grandchildren.
