Custers mark golden date

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Alvin J. Custer Jr. of Lower Yoder Township have marked their 50th wedding anniversary by vacationing with their family in Lancaster County.

Mr. Custer and the former Donna J. Lambert were married June 20, 1964, at the former Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church, Johnstown, by the Revs. Donald Seese and William West.

The Custers are graduates of Johnstown High School in 1958 and 1959, respectively.

Mr. Custer is a retired postal clerk. He was a vital participant in St. Therese’s Baseball League for many years.

Mrs. Custer is a former employee of Penn Traffic Co. and was a housekeeper for several families in the Johnstown area.

She was involved in the former Oakhurst and Chandler Mother’s Clubs and the former ladies auxiliary of the Lower Yoder Township Fire Department.

After raising their children, Mrs. Custer provided day care for their three grandsons.

The Custers are members of Calvary United Methodist Church in the West End, where they attend the Seekers class, The Good Samaritans group and help with vacation Bible school.

They are the parents of three children: Kenneth, married to the former Susan Trzeciak; Kevin, married to the former Charlene Hanson; and Crystal, wife of Clinton Dull II.

There are six grandchildren: Hannah, Naomi and Lydia Custer, Jacob Custer and Mackenzie and Anderson Dull.

There are two stepgrandchildren: Cameron and Colton Dull.
