Burkharts mark golden date

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Burkhart of Johnstown have marked their 50th wedding anniversary with the renewal of their vows by Pastor Randy Bain of Oakland United Methodist Church, and a picnic for family and close friends at their daughter’s home.

Mr. Burkhart and the former Jackie Kanour were married Sept. 15, 1962, at Belmont United Methodist Church.

Mr. Burkhart was born Sept. 10, 1941, in Johnstown, son of Samuel and Annabelle Burkhart.

Mrs. Burkhart was born Aug. 3, 1941, in Phillipsburg, Centre County, daughter of John and Lenore Kanour.

Mr. Burkhart is a retired salesman from Krisay’s Appliances.

Mrs. Burkhart is a retired customer service representative from American General Life Insurance Co.

The Burkharts are members of Oakland United Methodist Church.

They enjoy fishing, camping, canoeing, bowling, traveling and spending time with their children and grandchildren.

The Burkharts are the parents of three children: Douglas, married to the former Darlene Bradley, Manheim, Lancaster County; Gregory, married to the former Suzanne Lefko; and Tracy, wife of John Durica, Johnstown.

There are eight grandchildren: Hannah Burkhart, Matt, Tyler, Olivia, Isabella and Quinn Burkhart and John and Jennifer Durica.
