Walkers celebrate 50th anniversary

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Robert Walker of Johnstown have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family Mass at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, followed by a reception at the Grand Halle in Cambria City.

Mr. Walker and the former Mary Lou Glavach were married Nov. 16, 1963, at St. John Gualbert Cathedral by the Rev. William J. Peters.

Mr. Walker, a retired industrial electrician from Bethlehem Steel Corp., enjoyed years as a PIAA official.

Mrs. Walker was an adult education instructor and dedicated years to mentoring cheerleaders.

Mr. and Mrs. Walker volunteer their time with ministries at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church.

The Walkers enjoy international and domestic traveling, attending their grandchildren’s sporting and musical events, Pitt football and the annual family beach trip to Garden City, S.C.

They are the parents of four children: Bob, and wife, Kristin, Elmhurst, Ill.; Dr. John, Johnstown; James, Chicago, Ill.; and Julie, wife of Tony Sansone, Avon, Ohio.

There are five grandchildren: Hailey, Isabella and Troy Walker and Anna and Emily Sansone.
