Sigmunds note golden date

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Tom Sigmund of Johnstown have noted their 50th wedding anniversary with a Mass at Our Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, Westmont, followed by a dinner party with their children and grandchildren.

Mr. Sigmund and the former Mary Joan Grunsky were married June 15, 1963, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Clairton, Allegheny County.

Mr. Sigmund was born Dec. 5, 1937, in Pittsburgh, son of the late William and Catherine Sigmund.

Mrs. Sigmund was born June 18, 1940, in Clairton, daughter of the late John and Mary Grunsky.

Mr. Sigmund is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the University of Pittsburgh.

Mrs. Sigmund also is a graduate of IUP.

At IUP, she was introduced to her husband-to-be on a blind date, set up by one of his fraternity brothers.

The Sigmunds have retired from the teaching profession. Mr. Sigmund taught math at Richland High School and then at UPJ for 40 years.

Mrs. Sigmund taught at Gateway Union School District, Monroeville. She also taught in the Richland School District and continued teaching at the Presbyterian Nursery School and Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic School until retirement.

The Sigmunds now reside in Cape May, N.J. They are volunteers at Cape Regional Medical Center and at their church, Our Lady Star of the Sea.

Besides domestic and foreign traveling, Steeler games and visiting family, trips also are made with a gourmet group formed more than 30 years ago at UPJ to travel to various places.

The Sigmunds are the parents of three children: Tom, and wife, Susan,

Serville, N.J.; Kevin, and wife, Sharon, Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; and Kristin, wife of Lamont Crocco, Johnstown.

There are six grandchildren: Casey, Courtney,

Kevin Thomas and Katelyn Sigmund and Collin and Dylan Crocco.
