Whorls observe 50th anniversary

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Robert Whorl of Johnstown have observed their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner hosted by their children for family and friends at Anthony’s Restaurant, Geistown Borough.

Mr. Whorl and the former Marie Scarletta were married Feb. 9, 1963, at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church by the Rev. Joseph Fleming.

Mr. Whorl was born Sept. 24, 1939, in Johnstown, son of Wilbur and Janet Whorl.

Mrs. Whorl was born March 26, 1942, in Johnstown, daughter of Oscar and Eileen Scarletta.

Mr. Whorl retired from the Johnstown Police Department as a lieutenant. He served in the Army.

He enjoys watching their grandchildren’s sporting events and gardening.

Mrs. Whorl works part time at Lee Shoppee as a cashier.

She enjoys watching their grandchildren’s sporting events and reading.

They are the parents of three children: Michael, and wife, Julia, Johnstown; Robert, and wife, Joyce, Maryland; and Jason, and wife, Billie, Johnstown.

There are six grandchildren.
