Helsels celebrate 60th anniversary

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. William B. Helsel of Johnstown have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House in Richland Township.

Mr. Helsel and the former Patricia Schwartz were married Dec. 21, 1952, at First Lutheran Church, Johnstown, by Dr. Walden Holl.

Mr. Helsel was born Feb. 11, 1932, in Johnstown, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Milton Helsel.

Mrs. Helsel was born Dec. 15, 1932, in Johnstown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R. Schwartz.

Mr. Helsel served in the Navy during the Korean War.

He was a teacher in Lancaster County and Johnstown schools.

Mrs. Helsel was a medical technologist.

The Helsels are members of First Lutheran Church.

They are the parents of seven children: Kathleen Carr of Washington, D.C.; Lisa Khuri of Johnstown; William W. Helsel of Johnstown; Sheila Held of Johnstown; Steven Helsel of Johnstown; Wade Helsel of Fairless Hills, Bucks County; and Gregg Helsel of Johnstown.

There are 20 grandchildren.
