Seitz couple observe 50th

JOHNSTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Art Seitz of Somerset have observed their 50th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Seitz and the former Jean Bell were married July 17, 1964.

Mr. Seitz was born in 1936 in Level Green, Westmoreland County.

Mrs. Seitz was born in 1934 in Gray.

Mr. Seitz is a 1954 graduate of Penn-Joint High School and a 1958 graduate of Duquesne University, with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

He worked for 37 years in the printing industry and 23 years for the U.S. post office.

He was employed by the Greensburg Tribune-Review, The Tribune-Democrat, Penn-Franklin News, Somerset Daily American, Meyersdale Republican, Pittsburgh Legal Journal, Herbick & Held, Latrobe Bulletin, Connellsville Courier, Jeannette News-Dispatch, Irwin Standard and Pitcairn News Express.

His postal service began in Meyersdale as a clerk-car-rier, in New Florence as clerk, in Bolivar as postmaster, in Johnstown as manager of human resources and in Penn Run as postmaster.

He served six years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force.

He also was the mayor of Meyersdale.

Mrs. Seitz is a 1952 graduate of Somerset High School.

She was employed by JC Penney, Sun Drug store, Heinrich’s, Davidsons, Jamesway and Oakhurst Tea Room.

They both owned and operated the Kopper Kettle restaurant in Trent.

They are members of Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Bakersville, where they were involved in a variety of service organizations.

They enjoy traveling, having visited 45 of the 50 states, all of Canada and remodeling and restoring homes from Victorian to mobile homes. They have moved 18 times.

They have a second home in Naples, Florida.
