Festivities get under way at 5:15 tonight for Johnstown’s annual light up and Christmas parade with sounds of the season by members of Johnstown Symphony Chorus in Central Park. Wings of Hope, a Hooversville charity, will hold a two-mile run or walk at 5:40, beginning at Point Stadium on Johns Street. The parade, which steps off at 6 from Point Stadium, will feature giant helium-filled balloons, floats, high school marching bands, community groups and Santa Claus. After the parade, Santa will flip the switch to turn Central Park into a magical Christmas village, and he will hear children’s wish lists.
