LOCAL Mr Bones.12-9 EDITION mr. bones.t with some of the evidence and remains in the evidence room of the sheriffs dept. He is holding a mess kit and several books of poetry .The closest investigators came to an identity for the man is the nickname he took on in death: "Mr. Bones". Forty-three years ago, a brush cutting crew found his decomposed remains -- bones and clothing -- sitting against a tree just behind the Midway rest stop on the Pennsylvania Turnpike. He was shot once through the head. He was midle aged, had changes of clothes and poetry books and wore contact lenses, a rarity for that time. He now lies in a cardboard barrel, locked away with guns, marjuana plants and such in the evidence room at the Bedford County Sheriff's office as the sheriff and the state police prepare for a court fight over whether he deserves burial in a local graveyard, or whether as the state police say he is "live evidence" that with a good going over from modern investigators -- could yield a clue that identifies him and, maybe identifies a killer..
