AmeriServ bank robbed; police searching for suspect

JOHNSTOWN — The West End Branch of AmeriServ Financial was robbed Tuesday morning, two days before the branch is scheduled to close.

Johnstown police are searching for the robber.

A man entered the office at 163 Fairfield Ave. at 9:53 a.m., and then made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

A police detective could be seen through the window dusting for fingerprints.

The West End Branch is scheduled to close Thursday. All accounts will be transferred to the main office at 216 Franklin St.
