Northern Cambria woman's autopsy inconclusive; death still under investigation

NORTHERN CAMBRIA — State police in Ebensburg are investigating a suspected criminal homicide in Northern Cambria.

A warrant was issued to search the Holly Street apartment of Amanda Sherry-Griffon, 30, who was found dead Saturday in a wooded area along Grace Street in Susquehanna Township.

According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by state police, the cause of the woman's death is still under determination. An autopsy performed today turned up no signs of trauma or foul play, according to Dennis Kwiatkowski, Cambria County coroner.

Kwiatkowski said toxicology reports will take about six weeks to be returned.

Sherry's mother, Joy, told police Sunday that Amanda was living with a man named Clayton Shultz. He was not in the apartment when police served the search warrant around 4 p.m. Sunday.

The door to the apartment was open when police arrived, according to the affidavit, and investigators also found a "large amount of blood" in the bathroom.

Shultz currently has two pending warrants in Cambria County, one for probation violation.
