Man surrenders peacefully

Had been in standoff with police

NORTHERN CAMBRIA —  A 44-year-old Northern Cambria area man surrendered peacefully just before 3 p.m. Wednesday after a six-hour standoff with authorities at his Greenwich Road residence.

State police said they received a call just before 9 a.m. from the man’s girlfriend who arrived at the Susquehanna Township residence and found things that disturbed her.

The woman left the residence with state and local police setting up an exterior perimeter at the residence. Efforts to contact the man via telephone and the police public address system failed.

At 2:50 p.m., the man left the residence and surrendered peacefully, police said.

Police were interviewing the man late Wednesday afternoon and were in the process of obtaining a warrant to search the residence. The man’s name was not being released immediately.
