A 38-year-old man was shot during what police are investigating as a home invasion at a residence in Richland Township on Thursday night.
Township police chief Mike Burgan said at the scene that the man was rushed to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center by East Hills Ambulance personel for treatment.
An unknown intruder entered the residence along Lydia Street at around 8:06 p.m. and shot the victim, he said.
Police late Thursday were working to learn more about the assailant or asailants, he said.
A state police mobile crime laboratory from Greensburg was on its way to process the scene, Burgan said.
The Richland Township Fire Department was a big help in controlling traffic while police investigated the incident, he said.
Also assisting with the investigation were the Geistown police department.
Anyone with information is being asked to call the police through the Cambria 911 Center’s non-emergency line, 800-281-1680.
