Coroner: Dale woman fatally shot by boyfriend

DALE — A 20-year-old Dale woman was shot dead late Saturday after an argument escalated with her boyfriend, investigators said.

Dale Borough police and the county District Attorney’s Office said the Bloom Street shooting remained under investigation Sunday but Coroner Dennis Kwiatkowski said his office has already deemed the death a homicide.

“It appears there was a domestic altercation and it turned physical,”ÔÇłKwiatkowski said, noting the 20-year-old girl died of a gunshot to the head.

The young woman’s name was not released Sunday morning because his office was still attempting to reach and notify some members of her immediate family, Kwiatkowski added. She was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. Saturday, he said.

Her alleged assailant - whose name was also not immediately released - was taken into custody late Saturday night, arraigned on charges and taken to county jail.
