BUSINESS BRIEFS | Federal SBA plans webinars

— The Small Business Administration will present webinars Wednesday and Jan. 22 to help small businesses navigate the 8(a) business development program. The hourlong webinars will start at 2 p.m.

The first webinar will focus on how the 8(a) program works. The second will cover the basic requirements for the program and the top reasons why an 8(a) application is declined or returned.

The webinars are free, but participants must sign up for them. Forms are available at http://www.sba.gov/news.

Survey: St. Francis   a good investment

St. Francis University has been nationally ranked on Payscale.com’s 2013-14 College Salary and Return on Investment annual reports.

The university ranked 274 out of more than 1,000 universities and colleges for mid-career salary of graduates in the College Salary Report. It also earned the 316 spot out of more than 1,500 schools for alumni’s overall net return on investment in the ROI report.

 While all of the St. Francis alumni surveyed received some form of financial aid, the Payscale salary data showed that the investment in their education paid off with an average return on investment of $752,200.

The university also conducts a career placement survey each year. The most recent report found that within six months of graduation, 97 percent of 2012 graduates secured employment or were enrolled in graduate school.
