Business people: Polacek named to Philly Fed council

— Bill Polacek, president and CEO of JWF Industries and JWF Defense Systems, has been appointed to serve a three-year term on the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia’s economic advisory council.

Council members provide information to Federal Reserve Bank officials about business conditions in their industries and communities.

Polacek also owns JWF Machining, A.I.M., JWF Coatings, Johnstown Structural and CFM Air Compressors. He is president and CEO of Environmental Tank & Container.

Polacek formerly served on the board of directors of CNB Financial Corp.

He was named one of Pennsylvania Business Central’s Top 100 Business People in 2011.

Polacek also is actively involved with the Johnstown/Cam­bria County Chamber of Commerce advisory board.

Physician joins family medicine group

Dr. Ruth Hilde Trondsen Pawlowski is the newest addition to Memorial Medical Center’s Family Medicine Residency faculty.

Pawlowski is a graduate of the Memorial Medical Center’s residency program and will now add the role of teaching to her clinical duties.

“I really like the wide variety offered by this position,” Pawlowski said. “I will still get to take care of patients on both an inpatient and outpatient basis and I will spend time working with residents through rounding, lectures and other programming. It is a great opportunity.”

Pawlowski is a native of Norway, where she earned her registered nursing degree before attending medical school at the Collegium Medicum, Jagiellonian University in Poland.

Certified public accountants recognized

Area certified public accountants Kimberly A. Dorchak and Michael V. Lamb were recognized as two of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ 40 Under 40: Members to Watch for 2012-2013.

The two received this distinction for demonstrating leadership skills that will propel their success in a profession committed to protecting the public interest.

Dorchak, of Sidman, is a shareholder with Kotzan CPA & Associates PC in Johnstown.

Lamb, of Bedford, is an audit manager with Wessel & Co. in Johns­town.

The institute’s 40 Under 40: Members to Watch program recognizes members who participate in and support institute programs.

Dorchak has chaired the institute’s Central Chapter Emerging CPAs Committee. Lamb serves on the Local Government Accounting and Auditing Committee.

Accounting firm adds two to staff

The Catanese Group has announced two new members of their accounting staff.

Nathan D. Pearce of Johnstown joined the group as a staff accountant. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Pitt-Johnstown.

Andrew G. Hutsky also is a staff accountant and a recent graduate of Pitt-Johnstown. He resides in Portage.

Both Pearce and Hutsky hold entry-level positions responsible for performing auditing, accounting, tax and other services.
