AmeriServ Financial has promoted Michael D. Lynch of Westmont to senior vice president/chief investment and risk officer.
In his new position, Lynch is responsible for managing the enterprise risk management process, the company’s investment securities portfolio, the asset/liability management reporting process, the annual budget process, as well as overseeing the purchasing function.
Lynch earned a master’s degree in business administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in management and accounting from Pitt-Johnstown. He is a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Richland.
AmeriServ executive earns promotion
AmeriServ Trust and Financial Services Co. has promoted Diana Hipp to assistant vice president/financial services manager. She has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance and financial services industry. She is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and the sales team of the financial services division of the trust company.
Hipp has a Pennsylvania agent’s life, accident and health license and is pursuing her securities license. She has attended numerous financial and continuing education workshops and is enrolled in educational curriculum courses through the bank’s unaffiliated broker/dealer, LPL Financial. She is a volunteer for Easter Seals and Habitat for Hounds, and is a member of The National Association of Professional Women.
Senior VP named at trust company
AmeriServ Trust and Financial Services Co. has promoted Nick Debias to senior vice president and manager of the retirement services division.
He has more than 30 years of banking experience, with the last 20 for the trust company. Under his leadership, the number of qualified plans administered has grown significantly and the staff has more than tripled. He is chairman of the global union initiative, and under his leadership in this area the company has seen significant growth in union assets under management.
Debias earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Francis University. He attended Canon Financial Institute and has completed the Midwest Trust School Employee Benefit Administration and Institutional Sales Program. In addition, he has attended numerous ERISA and retirement plan workshops through McKay Hochman.
MetLife exec marks 22 years of service
Robert E. Vamos, financial services executive of MetLife Johnstown, recently celebrated 22 years of service with the company.
Vamos began his career at MetLife in 1991. He since has devoted his career to helping clients in the Johnstown area.
He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh.
Society of engineers honors professionals
Two local professionals were honored by the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, Johnstown Chapter.
George DeFrehn, a founding partner at East Hills Engineering Associates, was named Engineer of the Year.
Justin Kalanish, a mechanical engineer with H.F. Lenz Co., was named Young Engineer of the Year.
1st Summit names assistant controller
Scott W. Barnes of Hastings was promoted to assistant controller at 1st Summit Bank.
He will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the bank’s accounting systems, controlling and managing expenses, and supervising the accounting department.
Barnes received a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Pittsburgh and has been with the bank since 2009.
Company announces acquisitions
Elk Lake Capital (ELK) of Scranton has announced the acquisition of Environmental Services Laboratories Inc. (ESL Inc.) and Environmental Land Surveying and Solutions (ELS&S).
ELK is a family office private equity firm, focused exclusively on control-investment opportunities in privately held companies with operating profits ranging between $2 million and $5 million.
ESL Inc. is an environmental testing laboratory that provides its clientele with a comprehensive range of analytical testing and field sampling services.
ELS&S provides professional land surveying, engineering, permitting and geographic information systems services in Pennsylvania’s residential and commercial markets including the rapidly emergent natural gas market.
