Wolf Furniture Co. has announced the following promotions:
Gene Stoltz has been promoted to president of the company and also will serve as chief merchandising officer. He is the second non-family member selected for this role in the 111-year company history. He will serve as the ninth president.
Doug Shaffer has been promoted to senior vice president of the company. He has more than 37 years of dedicated experience to Wolf’s. Shaffer has overseen the construction, renovation and opening, or, personally managed nearly every store in the Wolf operation.
Germaine Crocker has been promoted to the position of treasurer of the company. She also will serve on the company executive committee.
Charles McLaughlin will retire from the company. He will continue to assist Wolf’s in real estate matters as well as a new business venture, Allegheny Furniture Consignment in Harrisburg.
Wessel’s Eyer earns Top 100 ranking
Robert J. Eyer, CPA and managing partner of Wessel & Co., has been selected to the Pennsylvania Business Central’s “Top 100 People for 2012.”
Nominations were taken from throughout PBC’s 16-county coverage area, and the final honorees were selected by PA Business Central editors for their contributions, achievements and leadership professionally and throughout their communities.
Eyer’s leadership has helped guide the company to an increase in staff, being named to the Top 100 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania for the fifth consecutive year and the Top 100 Best Accounting Firms to Work for in the nation.
Windber Medical names VP of finance
Richard M. Sukenik has been named vice president of finance/CFO at Windber Medical Center.
Sukenik joins Windber Medical Center after working as the CFO and controller at Electronic Claims Processing in Ebensburg for four years. Pror to that, he was with Conemaugh Health System for 12 years in various roles including vice president of finance.
He earned a master’s degree in business administration from St. Francis University and a bachelor’s degree in accounting/management from Pitt-Johnstown.
He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Healthcare Financial Management Association. He also serves on the Pennsylvania Highlands Community College Departmental Advisory Committee.
Sukenik resides in Richland Township with his wife, Cathy, and daughter.
Finance exec to speak at Fla. conference
Douglas P. Puchko, president of Puchko Financial Associates Inc., 515 Main St., Johnstown, has qualified for the 2013 annual Builders Conference in Orlando, Fla.
This is Puchko’s seventh consecutive invitation and the second time he has been asked to host a breakout session, dealing with the Circle of wealth client communication system of which Puchko is a master mentor.
His locally owned and operated independent firm currently is represented by 20 career and producers agents.
In addition to being a general agent for Ohio National, Puchko also is a registered principal for the O.N. Equity Sales company, a member of NAIFA, GAMA and the Million Dollar Roundtable.
Catanese Group names new firm administrator
Sandra L. Frantz has been hired as the new firm administrator for the Johnstown and Pittsburgh locations of The Catanese Group.
Frantz is a graduate of Pitt-Johnstown, with a bachelor’s degree in business/accounting.
In her position, she will be responsible for office administration, firm development and accounting services for both the Johnstown and Pittsburgh offices.
Conemaugh Twp. grad hired as associate
Michael J. Muir has been hired as a consultative associate in the consultative services department at Henderson Brothers Inc.
In his position, Muir provides consulting services to Henderson Brothers’ employee benefits and commercial lines clients, on matters related to human resources compliance, claims analytics, employee communication and training, policy reviews, and mitigating risk exposure. He also projects, verifies and analyzes clients’ experience ratings and assists with implementing appropriate loss control strategies through technology resources.
He is a 2007 graduate of Conemaugh Township Area High School and a 2011 graduate of Penn State, where he received a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science with minors in statistics and mathematics.
Local man appointed part-time director
Joseph Matthew Sernell has been named the part-time director of operations for CONXX Pennsylvania.
He has almost a decade of public safety and radio technology experience.
Sernell earned a a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a master’s degree from Northcentral University.
He attended Pitt-Johnstown, where he serves on the board of directors for the Alumni Association.
He also is an elected council person in Geistown Borough and has served on the board of directors for the Pennsylvania Geographical Society.
Physical therapy experts lauded
Ivan Mulligan, associate professor of physical therapy, and Mark Boland, director of physical therapy at the DiSepio Institute, have received the 2012 JOSPT Excellence in Research Award for their article titled “Prevalence of Neurocognitive and Balance Deficits in Collegiate Football Players Without Clinically Diagnosed Concussion.” The article appeared in the July 2012 issue of the Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy.
The award recognizes the best article published in the JOSPT during a calendar year.
Selection is based on the importance of the contribution to clinical or basic science related to orthpaedic or sports physical therapy, the relevance of the article to clinical practice, the quality of the research and the quality of the writing.
