Business brief | BP donation supports Ashbridge scholarship

JOHNSTOWN — Ashbridge Oil Co., which services BP stations throughout Pennsylvania, presented a BP Fueling Communities grant donation of $6,500 to the Frank H. and Violet R. Ashbridge Memorial Scholarship at Pitt-Johnstown.

The BP Fueling Communities program provides grants to local organizations that are nominated by BP’s branded marketers to support the towns in which they do business.

Fueling Communities gives back to local organizations that support health, education, youth, food and housing to spread charity and goodwill.

Frank A. and Nancy E. Ashbridge established the scholarship in 1981 in honor of his father, Frank H. Ashbridge, founder and owner of Ashbridge Oil. Violet R. Ashbridge pursued a career in nursing in the Johnstown area.

The scholarship is available to students with financial need who are graduates from Cambria, Somerset, Blair, Bedford or Westmoreland counties. The scholarship supports between five and 10 students annually.
