Once a woman finds a special dress, she still needs to get the right accessories.
That is where Adorned comes in.
The shop, located at 1153 Franklin St. in Johnstown, held its grand opening the weekend of Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. It offers jewelry and bags, along with other items such as perfume.
“It’s everything that you would need to look good in your dress without the dress. You provide that, and we provide everything else, the adornments,” said Adorned owner Jessica Martella.
Her store is a boutique offering specialized items rarely found locally. Martella selected the merchandise from locations in Atlanta, Las Vegas, New York City and other large markets.
“I tried to find stuff that wasn’t already in Johnstown,” Martella said.
“We don’t have a lot of shopping as it is, and I didn’t want to compete with others, so I tried to bring in things that were unique to this area.”
Adorned sells jewelry from several designers, including Uno de 50, Spartina 449 and Lenny & Eva.
Handbags and totes from Scout, Karma and other companies are available.
Along with purchasing items themselves, women can fill out a wish list so their husbands, boyfriends or other loved ones can know exactly what items they want
“We will keep them on file,” Martella said. “They can tell us everything that they would like to receive as a gift.”
Martella opened the store, which employs two part-time workers, after her job as a pharmaceutical sales representative was downsized.
“I just decided that it was now or never,” she said. “It was an unfortunate circumstance, but also an opportunity at the same time.”
