Business People 4 27 | Brethren home names director of nursing

JOHNSTOWN — Brenda Mathis has accepted the position of director of nursing at the Church of the Brethren Home in Windber.

Mathis has been an employee for 11 years at Church of the Brethren Home and served as assistant director of nursing for the past three years.

She completed the licensed practical nurse program at Greater Johnstown Vocational-Technical School and received a degree in registered nursing from Regent’s College in New York.

Somerset resident receives certifications

Dr. Christopher S. Poggi of Somerset has received certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration (FFA) as an aerospace medical examiner and the national registry of certified medical examiners by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Poggi performs FAA medical examinations and issues certificates for second class, third class, student pilot and flight controllers, who now require FAA licensure.

He is a certified examiner for drivers needing the Department of Transportation commercial driver’s license.
