Business people: Paros named to MetLife post

JOHNSTOWN — John F. Paros has been appointed a designated MetLife Retirewise representative.

Paros, a Pitt-Johnstown graduate, is a chartered life underwriter, a chartered financial consultant, a life underwriter training council fellow and an agency sales director. He is a member of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, and the Estate Planning Council of Cambria and Somerset counties.

He has worked in the financial services industry for  30 years.

As part of the Retirewise program, Paros will help educate employers and their employees about retirement planning through seminars that provide a comprehensive view of retirement.

Two join Camp Harmony staff

Barron Deffenbaugh and Cortney Tyger have been added to the staff at Camp Harmony in Hooversville.

Deffenbaugh will take on duties as associate camp director, overseeing programs and assisting the executive director.

He joins Camp Harmony with 35 years of experience in administration and marketing, most recently as pastor at Arbutus Church of the Brethren. Before that, he was a manager with Burger King.

Tyger will be planning and executing the program as director. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from IUP and worked most recently for Evergreen Boys and Girls Club in Purchase Line as lead staff.

Camp Harmony is a Christian camp, conference and retreat center serving and nurturing all people.
