JOHNSTOWN — The rosters for the seventh annual AmeriServ Senior Hoops Showcase are set, with 1,000-point scorers, 500-rebound players and conference and district champions represented on the boys’ and girls’ all-star squads.

The Showcase will be played on Sunday, April 6 at the Pitt-Johnstown Sports Center. The girls’ game begins at 1 p.m., with the boys contest to follow at 3 p.m.

North Boys

The North boys, coached by Bishop McCort’s Jerry Murphy will have five players who were part of District 6 champion teams on the roster. Four of those will be from the 6-AA champion Richland Rams.

Richland 1,000-point scorer Kyle Flick, 6-foot-2 inside standout Matt Shaffer and sharpshooters Jacob Lushko and Aaron Miller will represent the Rams.

Bishop Carroll’s 6-6 center Marcus Lee just ended his season on Tuesday as the District 6 and LHAC-champion Huskies advanced to the PIAA Class A semifinals before falling to WPIAL powerhouse Lincoln Park. Lee scored more than 1,000 career points and averaged about 16 points and seven rebounds a game.

A first-year Crushers head coach, Murphy will work with three of his players as Nemo Trexler, Nathan Neiderhiser and Stephen Ingram are on the North squad. The versatile and athletic Trexler averages just under 20 points and 10 rebounds a game while Neiderhiser hits about 11 a night, and Ingram averaged three assists a game.

Conemaugh Valley’s Blake Furman had a 25 points per game average with 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and three steals a game for the Blue Jays. Central Cambria’s Tanner Ambrisco scored 18.9 a night while also dishing out 5.2 assists and making 2.7 steals a game.

Rounding out the North are Portage’s Cody Randall and Ferndale’s Isaiah Sajatovich, who both had double-digit scoring averages.

South Boys

Windber coach Jude Leonardis’ South boys have 1,000-point scorers in Berlin Brothersvalley’s Jake Snyder and Rockwood’s Ethan Keefer. Snyder averaged 18.4 points a game for the District 5-A champion Mountaineers. His teammate Trevon Ward brings a 12.8 points per game average to the Showcase.

Leonardis will coach four of his players – Dan Tomlinson, Devon Tomlinson, Matt Barkley and Bryce Spak. The Tomlinsons and Barkley each averaged in double-digit scoring, and Spak is just under 10 points a game.

District 5-AA champion Conemaugh Township put three players on the South in Jeff Callihan, Jake Formica and Austin Speigle. Callihan averaged 10.6 points and 6.8 rebounds while Formica scored 9.3 a game, and Speigle was capable of scoring, rebounding or making the big assist for the WestPAC champion Indians.

Shade’s Nash Walker and B.J. Spangler  join Meyersdale’s Nick Ceretta, Somerset’s Connor Zarefoss and Shanksville-Stonycreek’s Ryan Platt to complete the South roster. Platt had 17.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game.

North Girls
