UPJ wins two in baseball

PARKERSBURG, W. Va. — Pitt-Johnstown swept a doubleheader Wednesday at Ohio Valley, taking a 10-6 win in the opener and a 14-1 victory in the nightcap.

The Mountain Cats improved to 12-5.

UPJ scored four runs in the top of the seventh to break a 6-all tie and win the first game.

Jake Warner had three hits, including a double and an RBI, while Kyle Morrow, Zach Vignero and Sam Barbera had two hits each.

Nate McGhee hit a three-run homer for the Mountain Cats, and Ryan Sozol picked up the win with two innings of relief.

Warner added three more hits, including a home run, a double and three RBI, in the second game. Mike Palkovicz’s three hits included a two-run homer. Jeff Campbell had three hits, including a home run and a double.

Kody Reighard pitched five innings, giving up three hits and one run while striking out five
