Alex Beiler had two hits and Kirk Davis smacked a run-scoring double.

Delweld 7, Berkley Hills 2: At Point Stadium, Andy Smithmyer struck out 12, scattered two hits and allowed a pair of unearned runs as Delweld improved to 12-1 with another impressive pitching performance in Wednesday’s late game.
Eric Weyant went 2-for-4 and Ben Legath doubled, scored and had a RBI. Brett Marabito hit a run-scoring double for the Renegades (5-8) in the fifth.
Claysburg 10, Richland 1: In Claysburg, Mike Mock went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI to lead the hosts while winning pitcher Daniel Taylor was 2 for 3 with one RBI.
Nicholas D’Ambrosia was 3 for 3 for Richland.
Ebensburg 4, Stoystown 1: In Ebensburg, Troy Templeton strick out 11, allowed five hits and hit a two-run single in the third inning for Ebensburg.
Scott Lucas also hit a two-run single in the fourth for Ebensburg (3-4).
B.J. Spangler pitched a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Stoystown (1-3).
Penn State to ban bags
from athletic events
STATE COLLEGE – Penn State is banning bags from home athletic events this fall.
Penn State announced Friday it is prohibiting backpacks, bags and purses from athletic facilities including Beaver Stadium, the Bryce Jordan Center and Rec Hall. Each fan will be permitted a single clear gallon-size plastic bag for medical and child-care items, officials said.
Items abandoned at entry gates will be tossed.
Third suspect in stabbing of Steeler caught in Florida
PITTSBURGH – Police say a third suspect in the stabbing of Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Mike Adams has been captured in Florida.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard says 26-year-old Jerrell Whitlock of Pittsburgh was arrested in Gainesville in central Florida and is being held there.
Whitlock had been wanted on charges of attempted homicide, attempted robbery, aggravated assault and conspiracy for his alleged role in the June 1 attack on Adams.
