SFU men face diverse schedule

LORETTO — The St. Francis men’s basketball team will play 15 home games and will face challenges from teams in the Big Ten, Pac 10 and Patriot League during the campaign, which tips off against American on Nov. 10 at DeGol Arena in the Maurice Stokes Athletics Center.

The Red Flash return all five starters, and 12 lettermen, from last year’s squad that finished by winning four of its last five games.

The returnees include leading scorer and rebounder Devin Sweetney.

St. Francis will play a total of 17 home games this season with two exhibition games against Juniata College and Penn State-Altoona. The Red Flash will play three of their first four games at home. They will head to Happy Valley to battle Penn State on Nov. 12 and then return home for games against Morgan State (Nov. 14) and Lehigh (Nov. 17).

The battle with Lehigh will be a celebratory night for Red Flash athletics as the university will induct its 2007 athletics Hall of Fame class before the game.

St. Francis will open its Northeast Conference schedule at in-state rival Robert Morris on Dec. 8. The Red Flash will again play Patriot League power Bucknell and travel to Atlantic 10 foes La Salle and Duquesne, as well as Pac 10 opponent Arizona State on Dec. 28.
