YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio —
A promising first half for the Red Flash gave way to a lopsided second as Youngstown State came away with a 75-60 win over St. Francis at Beeghly Center on Friday.
Youngstown’s Blake Allen hit five second-half 3-pointers on his way to scoring 18 points. Kendrick Perry scored a team-high 19 points for the Penguins.
St. Francis was paced offensively by Stephon Whyatt, who scored 19 points, Ollie Jackson chipped in 14.
The Red Flash shot 44.6 percent (25-of-56) from the field, but were undone by a season-high 19 turnovers. The Penguins shot 50.0 percent (26-of-52) and hit on 15 of 16 free throw attempts. St. Francis won the battle underneath, 33 to 27.
St. Francis trailed by five points at halftime.
