Bag The Luckiest Buck

The Tribune-Democrat and local outdoor retailers are teaming up to showcase the region's deer hunters. When you bag that buck, take a quality photograph and send it to the newspaper.

Your favorite photo will be published in The Tribune-Democrat and on this site. Photographs will be uploaded as received. All names will be entered in a random drawing to select winners to receive gift certificates from local merchants. Last day to submit photographs online is December 16, 2009, noon.

Here are some guidelines for taking photographs:

Think about the background: Drag your deer off the pickup truck and into the grass or nearby woods where there's a suitable backdrop. You should squat or kneel down to be on the same level as the deer. Include your gun in the photograph. Horizontal photographs work best for the web.

Keep it sharp: Do your best to take a close up of both you and the deer keeping everyone in focus.

Lose the blood, clean up the deer and push the deer's tongue back inside its mouth.
