Readers' Forum 4-4 | Don’t let anti-gun group speak louder

Submitted by Readers

— As a law-abiding citizen, if I purchase a firearm, I agree to a criminal background check, legally apply for a concealed weapon permit, and adhere to and follow laws regulating the carry and use of such weapon.

As a responsible citizen, I obtain the proper training necessary to use and care for such weapon. I never use such weapon for illegal purposes, nor do I become complacent or negligent in practicing safe use, handling and storage.

Even though I demonstrate legal and responsible ownership, a small group of citizens believes I should be required to purchase costly gun-liability insurance. If I don’t, I could be fined upward of $10,000.

The money I would pay to one of the largest lobbyist groups, insurance companies, would be used to pay for the illegal acts committed by thug No. 1, a local drug dealer and basic ne’er do well, who illegally purchased a firearm from thug No. 2, who may have illegally purchased the firearm from Attorney General Eric Holder’s crew when they sold weapons to the cartel.

This small, anti-gun group believes that by forcing this and similar legislation upon citizens who are legally purchasing, selling and carrying firearms, all thugs will disarm themselves, disappear into the sunset and peace and tranquillity will prevail for all.

If you don’t like guns, don’t touch them, use them or purchase them.

As for the rest of us, don’t let this small group be louder than the masses who believe in the U.S. Constitution and the Second Amendment.
