Readers' Forum 9-27 | Johnstown, again, shows it cares

JOHNSTOWN — The Roxbury Bandshell Preservation Alliance wishes to thank the organizers and volunteers of the Bandshell Bark, especially Eileen Graham, for hosting the eighth annual event.

The weather started off rather cool but warmed up nicely as our canine friends took to the red carpet and pranced proudly around the park. All pet owners showed their responsibility of caring for their pets and also the environment.

Thanks also goes to the organizers and volunteers of the third annual Wang Dang Doodle. Thousands of us gathered for the day and enjoyed all the wonderful food and activities.

Both of these events generously donated contributions to the ongoing restoration efforts of our Roxbury Bandshell. We are proud and happy to collaborate with all of our sponsors, especially CJL Engineering, Milkie’s Lawn and Garden Center, AmeriServ Financial and Concurrent Technologies Corp., and our nonprofit friends, YMCA, Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, Pennsylvania Rural Arts Alliance, Greater Johnstown/Cambria County Chamber of Commerce Inc., Greater Johnstown/Cambria County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Lift Johnstown, Arts Coalition of the Alleghenies, Johnstown Redevelopment Authority, City of Johnstown, Veterans Monument Committee and Lee Initiative, as well as Cambria County, in our important mission to complete this project.

And now we have one more important quest of repositioning and rebuilding a regulation-size outdoor skate rink. We’re on the “skate.”

So, thanks again, Johnstown, for all you do. The Roxbury Bandshell belongs to all of us. Let’s enjoy our accomplishments.

See you in December at the Christmas tree lighting ceremony.
