Reliving the Golden Rule | Please send us your acts of kindness

The Tribune-Democrat

JOHNSTOWN — A new year will be upon us on Wednesday and we’re looking for some good news.

For the second year in a row, The Tribune-Demo-crat will be publishing Acts of Kindness in our print and digital editions.

The inaugural edition of the series was extremely popular with readers. It’s a simple enough concept: Share stories of people treating their neighbors as they’d like to be treated, moments of empathy and sympathy, and acts of kindness both large and small that truly make a difference.

Almost everyone has one. It can be a small gesture, like someone stopping to check on a stranded motorist or an anonymous financial gift of “paying it forward” at a drive-thru.

The local business community has already thrown its support behind the project. Those helping us with the series include:

-- AmeriServ Financial

-- Alternative Community Resource Program

-- CamTran

-- Cambria County Association for the Blind

-- Community Foundation for the Alleghenies

-- Concurrent Technologies Corporation

-- Conemaugh Health System

-- Crown American Hotels

-- First Commonwealth Bank

-- Harrigan’s Cafe and Wine Deck

-- JWF Industries

We appreciate their support in bringing some uplifting news to the people of our region. Now, we’re asking for your help as well.

Please contact us with acts of kindness that you’ve seen in your community. It can be something that someone has done for you or something that you’ve seen done for someone else. It can be an anonymous gesture, but it doesn’t have to be.

Send your act of kindness to or The Tribune-Democrat, Acts of Kindness, 425 Locust St., P.O. Box 340, Johnstown, Pa. 15907-304. Please limit stories to 100 words and include your name, where you live and the best way to contact you.
