Readers' Forum 12/4 | Health care act doesn't exempt religious beliefs

JOHNSTOWN — It is apparent that those who remind us that “our nation was founded upon Christian values” only do so when they are trying to further one of their causes.

The Affordable Care Act requires that employers provide health care insurance covering specific items. It does not permit an employer to deny any of these

mandates based upon their religious beliefs.

Employers that are affiliated with religious institutions have argued that this is conflict with the concept of the separation of church and state.

Some of their supporters, in an effort to have the Affordable Care Act amended, have reminded us about our nation’s Christian heritage.

Recently, President Obama was asked about the loss of innocent lives related to the use of armed drones in the Middle East.

He responded that collateral damage is a concern but the drones will continue to be used against those who are perceived as a threat to the United States.

Curiously, Obama’s comments did not elicit a response related to Christian values and the killing of innocent people.

If it is true that the nation was founded upon Christian values, then every discussion that we have concerning the nation’s welfare should include the question, “What would Jesus Christ want us to do?”

And those who remind us of the fact should be consistent in the application of their reminders.

More than two turkeys need pardoning

I saw the article on Thanksgiving, about President Obama pardoning two turkeys.

I think a lot of us would pardon those turkeys we sent to Washington, D.C., and the White House, if they would just stop lying to us.

This country cannot fly like an eagle, while roasting a bunch of turkeys in Washington, D.C.

Leaders can’t discern right from wrong

America is becoming a third-world banana republic. Lawlessness abounds with everything upside down and inside out thanks to the Obama administration.

Most leaders cannot discern right from wrong or good from evil. Godly wisdom resides light years away. A much larger spiritual war has propagated itself. These enlightened masters spew venomous, villainous acts against citizens’ hopes and dreams.

This hatred is quite evident and mirrors similarities to the abuse of Jewish communities during the 1233 Medieval inquisition or the 1483 Spanish inquisition.

During the reign of King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella all was not well, although it was called the Spanish Golden Age. Malicious and heartless procedures were committed against the Jewish people.

Spain’s edict of expulsion against all Jews began Spain’s demise in 1492. Monies seized from the Jewish people financed Columbus’ voyage to America at this time.

Spain’s prosperity plummeted and its government was dictators and tyrants.

Genesis 12:3 states, “And I (God) will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee.” Joel in Scripture states anyone who divides the land of Israel, God will destroy.

During the Middle East negotiations Obama stated, “Give Jerusalem to the Palestinians.” Our president despises Israel. The question is, will America suffer Spain’s fate?
