I read the article in Sunday’s The Tribune-Democrat titled “Coal’s future darkens.” Seems that we’re going to get carbon dioxide under control at last. We Americans are such bad managers of our environment that we have to have government control.
But is this true?
Ian Plimer, an Australian geologist and professor emeritus of earth sciences at the University of Melbourne said:
The volcanic eruption in Iceland has, in just four days, negated every single effort ... in the past five years to control CO2 emissions. “This is the evil carbon dioxide that we are trying to suppress.
“The ash emitted into the Earth’s atmosphere ... by that volcano has totally erased every single effort ... to reduce the evil beast, carbon. And there are around 200 active volcanoes on the planet spewing out this crud at any one time.”
From Newsmax.com: Arctic Sea ice averaged 2.35 million square miles in August compared to 1.32 million square miles in September 2012.
“We are already in a cooling trend. There is no doubt the warming of the 1980s and 1990s has stopped,” said Anastasios Tsonis of the University of Wisconsin.
The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change insists that global warming has been caused by human greenhouse gas emissions as opposed to natural variability, but there is mounting evidence that Arctic ice levels are cyclical.
Political correctness trumps scientific evidence. There’s an old adage – my mind’s made up, don’t confuse me with the facts. Unfortunately, this will cost us all both monetarily and in loss of freedoms.
Some fathers face a losing battle
One day you decide to marry. You decide you want to have children. You meet who you think is the one. But the one you picked decides that marriage is not all it is cracked up to be.
You go from tucking in your children at night and driving them to school to coming home one night after work and your family is gone. Now you not only are missing your family, but you have become a criminal in the eyes of the Cambria County court system. You must prove yourself innocent to the court and lawyers who name themselves masters.
Mothers gain all custody because the children belong to them exclusively. A bad mother is better than a good father, so council has told me.
The court will come up with the times the father may visit his children. That court order must be strictly followed, but only by the father. If the mother ignores a medical or other necessity, no problem.
If your court-appointed visitation is a time when you have to work, you lose again. More lost time with your children.
I see why many fathers abandon their children. The fight becomes hard and expensive. The mother wins again.
When a father wants to be a part of his child’s life, he is forsaken by the courts. We hear and see all the hype about being a good father, being involved. Well, if you live in Cambria County and your marriage doesn’t work out – good luck.
