The screening schedule for the Johnstown Film and Wine Festival is as follows:
Thursday, block 1 begins at 6 p.m.:
“Karl Bites” by Fred Wilder of Fullerton, Calif. Stop-motion animation and live action.
“Dislandia” by Brian Viveros and Eriijk Ressler. A disturbing observance of a child existing in an indistinguishable time and place. Ressler’s parents are from Johnstown.
“Santa’s Flaws” by Stuart Harrison of Devon, England. Father Christmas as a pessimist.
“Sleepless Night” by Mark Cooper. An animated short.
“The Light-Speed Machine” by Stuart Harrison of Devon. The story of an inventor.
“Drug (Friend)” by Lala Akhundova of Moscow. Friendship between a man and a horse.
“Windber After Midnight” by Bill Eggert of Johnstown. Homage to German expressionist silent films.
“My Good Yet Immensely Evil Friend Evan” by Renold Sossong, a junior at Bishop McCort High School, and Owen Standley, a Mount Aloysius College student. A sinister man convinces an average Joe to take over the world.
Block 2, 8 p.m.:
“Hellfire Blow” by Mike Bowers and Mark Cooper. A parody of action movie trailers.
“Zapruder Dreams” by Randy Jeffreys and Ian Miller of Johnstown. A young woman’s blog attracts a mysterious stranger’s extremist group.
“Waterman” by Anthony Frazier of Indiana. A music video featuring local musician Tim Dabbs.
“Lawn of the Dead” by Matt Towers of Pittsburgh. A family is under siege by zombies.
“Requim of a Muse” by Cristina Pinhiero and Andre Scucato. Explores the death of art.
“Poet’s Train” by Cristina Pinhiero and Andre Scucato. Painting, dancing and verse calligraphy.
“Ghost Stories from the Burgh – The Ghost of Hartwood Acres” by Bob Bender and Chris Cameron. Reveals mysteries and unexplained events at Hartwood Acres.
Friday, block 1 begins at 6:
“Abyss of Soul” by Cristina Pinhiero and Andre Scucato. Features poet Antonin Artaud.
“The Passing” by Aaron Gentzler. Friendship between two couples is changed by death.
“Never Everything” by Timothy Gaer. A man realizes he has nothing to live for.
“Sensorium” by Karen Aqua and Ken Field of Cambridge, Mass. Experimental animation.
“CHAP XV:12” by Fernando Pinheiro of Brazil. An experimental documentary.
“Cul de Sac” by Ian Rummell of Johnstown. A brash college graduate searches for answers.
“Neglected Laundry” by Dylan Hunter.
“She Sank on a Shallow Bank” by Clifton Childree and Niki Rollason. A disjointed narrative.
“Cigar at the Beach” by Stephen Keep Mills. A man filters domestic life through fantasy.
Block 2, 8 p.m.:
“Kyle and the Magic Cookie,” a youth entry by Samuel Weber, a senior at Cambria Heights High School, Patton. A magic cookie sends Kyle on a journey he’ll never forget.
“The Super School,” a youth entry by Keegan Terek and Ryan Dabbs. Chronicles Patrick’s first day at the super school.
“The Jig by Racecar Backwards,” the youth winner by Tom Getty of Johnstown. A music video of Racecar Backwards’ song “The Jig.”
“A Roof Above” by Andy Keleman. A woman decides to leave her husband.
“Coolsville” by Blair Murphy of Windber. Artists celebrate American beat poets.
“Get Tested” by Todd Bennett. A documentary about an individual living with HIV.
Saturday, films begin at dusk:
“The Tell-Tale Heart,” local actor Christopher David Collins performs Edgar Allan Poe’s story.
“Recliner,” an animated short by Phanthep Wiantrakoon.
“Who’s on First?” by Steve Barr and Danny Grossman. A take-off on the Abbott and Costello routine.
“The Offering” by Paul Lee. A ballet choreography.
“The Donut Gun” by Kev Stock of Ebensburg. A renegade scientist creates a donut laser gun.
“Scenic View” by Brandon Shakley. A photographer and his uncooperative camera.
“Out of Order,” an animated short by Earl Brawley.
“A Garota (The Kid)” by Fernando Pinheiro of Brazil. Tells of the child laborers of Brazil.
“Alex Scott – A Stand for Hope” by Larry Mendte. A 4-year-old raises money for cancer research.
“A Life of Death” by Dawn Westlake. Conflict ultimately leads to world peace.
“If There Were No Lutherans, Would There Be Green Jell-O?” by Gayle Knutson. A hilarious look at a Lutheran minister’s communications.
“Double Date” by Dave Stock of Ebensburg. Romantic comedy about double dates.
“Anesthesia” by Adam Kargman. The story of open-heart surgery and a failed anesthetic.
“The Option of War” by Nick Fox-Gieg. A soldier is taken prisoner by a pack of jackals.
“Andy” by Terence Healy. Animated short features an aging actor from Brooklyn.
“Germanity” by Matt Fuller and Andy McNeil. Showcases the common bond of humanity.
“The Apologist” by Guy Shahar. A serial apologist doesn’t know what “I’m sorry” means.
“Crossing” by Riad Galayini. A girl and her little brother struggle to keep things together.
“The Counter” by Lauren Wagner. Three black students attempt to desegregate a whites-only lunch counter.
