Life of savior in song | UPJ will present 'Jesus Christ Superstar'

A pulsing rock opera about the final seven days of Christ’s life will be presented by the Pitt-Johnstown theater department. Since it premiered on Broadway in 1971, “Jesus Christ Superstar” has been an audience favorite. Composer Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyricist Tim Rice provided a jazzy, campy style to the story. The play will be staged in the Studio Theater of Pasquerilla Performing Arts Center, 450 Schoolhouse Road in Richland Township. “What You See Is What You Get,” a photography exhibit by Clyde Williams Sr. of Johnstown, will be on display Saturday through Feb. 28 at the Bottle Works Ethnic Arts Center, 411 Third Ave. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown. An opening reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Ensembles to assemble | 15th annual Pink Ribbon Ball will be a masquerade affair
There is no cover-up about the purpose of an upcoming costume party. Carnevale Masquerade Ball “Unmask the Cure,” the 15th annual Pink Ribbon Ball, will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 27 at Pasquerilla Conference Center, 301 Napoleon St., downtown Johnstown.
'The Machine' will be in gear at Arcadia
The Pink Floyd tribute band “The Machine,” a highly anticipated show for Arcadia Theater patrons, returns to Windber on Feb. 23. The New York-based band, which will take the stage at 8 p.m., performs a cross-section of the 16-album repertoire that Pink Floyd produced during its 30-year reign as a pioneer of experimental rock.
