RELIGION IN BRIEF | Area churches will present cantatas
Easter cantatas will be presented at the following churches:
Moxham Christian Church, 636 Cypress Ave., Johnstown, 10 a.m. Sunday.
Morrellville Church of the Brethren, 408 Chandler Ave., Johnstown, 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St., Johnstown, 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Spring Meadow Family Worship Center, Route 56, Fishertown, 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Garrett United Methodist Church, 7 p.m. Sunday.
Tabernacle will host evangelist Wil Rice
Evangelist Wil Rice will speak at the 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. Sunday services and at 7 p.m. Sunday through Friday at Laurel Hill Tabernacle, Route 985, north of Jennerstown.
The meetings will include music and a topical message by Rice.
There will be a Kid’s Club for children ages 4 through Grade 3.

Musical recital will feature organist
First Lutheran Church will celebrate “100 Years of Ministry Through Music,” with a recital featuring Evonne Yanzetich, organist, at noon Tuesday at the church, 415 Vine St. in downtown Johnstown.
A light luncheon follow in the social hall.
An offering will be accepted.
Prayer breakfast set for Wednesday
The 15th annual community prayer breakfast will begin at 6:30 Wednesday, with the program beginning at 7, at the Holiday Inn, 250 Market St., downtown Johnstown.
Walt Mueller, founder and president of Center for Parent/Youth Understanding, will be the guest speaker.
Matt Price of Oakland United Methodist Church will provide the music.
Tickets are $12.

Sister will speak at vocations dinner
Sister Mary Assumpta, originally from Portage, will speak at the Bishop’s Night for Vocations Dinner on April 23 at the De Gol Arena of St. Francis University, Loretto.
A reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30.
The event, honoring the clergy and religious of the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, is sponsored by the Serra Clubs of Altoona and Cambria County.
Winners of the essay, poetry and poster contests, sponsored by the diocesan vocation office, will be recognized.
The sister, a member of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit, is the director of the Jennings Center for Older Adults in Cleveland.
She taught English in the Ohio area and, in 1986, she was chosen as general superior of the order.
All seating is reserved and reservations must be made by Tuesday.

Fellowship hosting bus trips to theater
Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship will host a bus trip to Sight and Sound Theater on Aug. 15 to see “In the Beginning.”
Another trip is scheduled for Dec. 10 to see “Miracle of Christmas.”
The cost of each trip is $100 and includes dinner.
A deposit of $50 is due by Wednesday.

Seminarians installed to ministry of reader
Fourteen seminarians from St. Vincent Seminary, Latrobe, representing one archdiocese, seven dioceses and two abbeys, have been installed to the ministry of reader on March 16 by the Most Rev. Joseph Adamec, Bishop of the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, in the St. Vincent Basilica.
They are Cong Nguyen and Tri John-Bosco Nguyen from the Archdiocese of Atlanta; Thomas Trofino, Altoona-
Johnstown Diocese; John Joseph Michniuk, Diocese of Covington; Brandon Kleckner, Diocese of Erie; Matthew Larlick, Diocese of Harrisburg; Huang Wenhong, Diocese of Nan Chong, China; Kevin Fazio, Diocese of Pittsburgh; Edwin Rodrigo Rojas-Florian, Diocese of Savannah; Brother John Mary Lugemwa, OSB, Mary, Mother of the Church Abbey; Brother Elijah Cirigliano, OSB, Brother Francis Ehnat, OSB, Brother Gabriel Myriam Kurzawski, OSB, and Brother Nathanael Polinski, OSB, all from St. Vincent Archabbey, .
Trofino is the son of Ralph and Rita Trofino of Johnstown.
He is a 2004 graduate of Bishop McCort High School and a 2008 graduate of the Pontifical College Josephinum, Columbus, Ohio, where he received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and literature.
Also taking part in the installation of ministry to reader were the Rev. David Brzoska, seminary vice rector; the Rev. Brian Saylor, vocation director, Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown; Deacon Matthew Baum; and the Very Rev. Justin Matro, OSB, seminary rector.
