RELIGION IN BRIEF | Blair Concert Chorale to perform in Altoona

“An Evening of Sacred Classics” will be presented by the Blair Concert Chorale at 8 tonight at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona.
Jeffrey L. Webb, artistic director, will conduct the 40-member chorale.
Tickets, which are $12 for adults and $6 for students, are available through the Blair Concert Chorale at 944-7851 or at the portico entrance of the cathedral one hour before the performance.
Hymn sing set for Sunday in Dixonville
The Indiana County hymn sing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Twolick Baptist Church, 98 Purchase Line Road, Dixonville.
Roxbury church lists Sunday events
The Rev. Brian N. Simmons will speak on the “Word of Life” during a worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St., Johnstown.
The Cathedral Choir will sing “Empty Hands” under the direction of Melanie Shiley.
Shiley will be accompanied by Laura Krouse, pianist.
Sunday school will begin at 9:30.
“Cloud of Grace” will present a concert at 6.
The performance is a fundraiser for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes to purchase Bibles for the School Huddle Bible Study groups.
More than 500 students from 13 area schools participate in the study groups.
There also will be a guest speaker from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Light refreshments and a time of fellowship will follow in the social room of the church.
Interim pastor to preach at Maple Spring
Members of Maple Spring Church of the Brethren will hear the Rev. John Stoner, interim pastor, preach on “Will He Say, ‘Well Done’? ” during a service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the church, 106 Spring Road, Hollsopple.
Garrett UM plans Easter cantata
Garrett United Methodist Church choir and friends will present “In the Presence of Jehovah” at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church, Walker Street, Garrett.
Choir members are Ruth Romesberg, Lynet Adolphson, Ardith Brant, Monica Housel, Beverly Ohler, Jill George, Kristin George, Dana Hetz, Vina Kay Pritts, Pam Kristoff, Sue Imhoff, Neal Adolphson, Bonnie Turner, Steve Hoyman, Pastor Dave Klink, Doug Pritts, Mark Pritts, Pastor Glenn Foster and Guy Imhoff.
Gloria Housel is the director.
Piano recital on tap for Tuesday
A recital celebrating 175 years of ministry through music at First Lutheran Church will continue with pianist Jeff Hornick at noon Tuesday at the church, 415 Vine St., downtown Johnstown.
The recital is free.
A light luncheon will follow in the church social hall.
St. James’ dinner play at Ace’s
“Uncle Phil’s Diner” will be presented by St. James Missionary Baptist Church community drama ministry at 6 p.m. Friday at Ace’s, 316 Chestnut St. in the Cambria City section of Johnstown.
