Lotus luncheon will benefit art museum
George Griffith and Thomas O’Brien, co-owners of the Flower Barn at Grandview Greenhouses, Millcreek Road and Bucknell Avenue, Westmont, will host a luncheon to raise money in support of the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, Greensburg.
Guests are invited to enjoy a light lunch and to view the rare Manchurian Lotus, which is grown from the oldest seeds ever to be germinated.
The event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 2 on the men’s 65-acre property off Ross Mountain Park Road in Fairfield Township, Westmoreland County.
The lotus plants are grown from a seed unearthed in Manchuria and estimated to be between 3,000 and 5,000 years old.
Cost of the event is $75.

Kernville Reunion at Lorain park
The 31st annual Kernville Reunion will be held Aug. 2 at Lorain Borough Park.
The reunion will begin at noon. There will be bingo at 1 p.m. and a buffet meal at 3.
Admission is $15 per person, which will be used to cover costs of the buffet and other refreshments, entertainment and park rental.
Music will be provided by Sam Coco from noon to 2:30 p.m. and Paul Stevenson from 2:30 to 5:30.
