SUCCESS STORIES | Virginia Tech grad is on dean's list
Ryan W. McGhee has been named to the spring semester dean’s list at Virginia Tech.
McGhee, a 2004 graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School, received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Virginia Tech.
Clarion students receive scholarships
The following Clarion University students have received scholarships:
Katie Miesko, daughter of Joseph and Peggy Miesko of Johnstown, received a $500 Honors Scholarship.
Miesko, a graduate of Central Cambria High School, Ebensburg, is a senior majoring in secondary education/English.
Heidi Shoemaker, daughter of Dave and Jenni Shoemaker of Ebensburg, received a $1,490 Mary L. Seifer Scholarship.
Shoemaker, a graduate of Cambria Heights High School, Patton, is a graduate student pursuing a degree in music education.
Jamie Miller, daughter of John Miller of Boswell, received a $500 George B. Garbarino Athletic Scholarship.
Miller, a graduate of Bishop McCort High School, is a senior majoring in marketing.
Elisa Cekada, daughter of Daniel Cekada of Penn Run and Shelly Craft of Mineral Point, received a $500 Kenney and Marjorie L. Vayda Scholarship.
Cekada, a graduate of Central Cambria High School, Ebensburg, is a junior majoring in elementary education/special education.
Kathryn Cook, daughter of William and Patricia Cook of Windber, received a $1,060 Dr. Mary R. Hardwick Scholarship.
Cook, a graduate of Forest Hills High School, Sidman, is a senior majoring in rehabilitative sciences.
Megan Highland, daughter of Brian and Linda Highland of Johnstown, received a $1,000 Foundation Leadership Scholarship.
Highland, a graduate of Greater Johnstown High School, is a freshman majoring in elementary education.
Sondra Christ, daughter of Eric and Peggy Christ of Sidman, received a $500 Megan Lhota-Calderaro Scholarship.
Christ, a graduate of Forest Hills High School, Sidman, is a freshman majoring in Spanish/psychology.
Westmont graduates to attend university
Stephanie Valentini and Hannah Clemenson, graduates of Westmont Hilltop High School, have been accepted to attend American University.
IUP student graduates summa cum laude
Mary Edmiston, daughter of Nancy Edmiston of Ebensburg, has graduated summa cum laude from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she received a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer sciences education.
She is a seventh-grade teacher in family and consumer sciences in the Altoona School District.
Johnstown graduate receives scholarship
Molly Kline, daughter of Ginger Kline of Johnstown, has received a President’s Scholarship from the University of Findlay.
Kline, a 2008 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School, is a freshman majoring in equestrian studies.
