Religion in brief | Hymn sing Sunday at Morrellville church


Grove Avenue UM

The Rev. Ed Schoeneck will deliver the message “To Be a Blessing,” based on Romans 12:1-10, during Sunday services at Grove Avenue United Methodist Church, 501 Grove Ave. in the Moxham section of Johnstown.

A contemporary worship service with music provided by Eclectic Praise Band,          under the direction of Denise Baldwin, will begin at 9 a.m.

Fellowship will follow.

Adult Sunday school will begin at 9:15.

Children’s Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

A traditional worship service will be held at 10:45 with the choir singing an anthem led by Judy Custer, organist and choir director.

Nursery will be available.

Mandy Gonzales is the coordinator.

Hastings UM

The Rev. Linda Lacovic will hold a praise service at 6 p.m. Saturday and a worship service at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Hastings United Methodist Church, 162 Fourth Ave.

Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

Adult Bible study is scheduled for 6 p.m.

The youth Bible club will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Holy Trinity

A worship service for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Main St., Berlin, will be held at 10:40 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

The churches annual meeting will begin at 11:45, followed by Hurricane Sandy Goodwill luncheon at 12:15.

A Christmas shoe box wrapping party with the youth group will be held at 1.

Bible study is scheduled for  6:30.

A community Thanksgiving service will be held at 7.

Johnstown Brethren

A homecoming to celebrate the 90th anniversary of  Johnstown Grace Brethren Church, Napoleon and Dibert streets in the Kernville section of Johnstown, will be held on Nov. 25.

The Rev. Rodney Lingenfelter, pastor of Altoona Grace Brethren Church in Juniata, will speak during the 9:30 a.m. worship service.

Tom McCreary and the Rev. Terry Gindlesperger will serve as the worship leaders.

A catered fellowship dinner will follow the service at 11 a.m.

Reservations to attend the dinner are required and should be made by Nov. 18.
