Religion in brief | Faith Chapel sets community day

Faith Chapel, 730 Sunberry St., Johnstown, will host a community appreciation day from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

There will be food and festivities, including a bounce house, petting zoo and dunk tank.

Christian concert at Berkey church

Dan Becker will be in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at Berkey Church of the Brethren, 1038 Church Drive, Windber.

Empowerment seminar at Praise Center

Praise Center Full Gospel Church, 200 Cooper Ave., Johnstown, will host an empowerment conference today and Sunday. The theme will be “Power Through Praise, Power Through Prayer and Power Through Partition.” Scripture will be Acts 1:8.

Conference leaders will be Joe and Kris Walls of New Life Church, New Florence.

Morning sessions will be held from 10:15 to 11:30. Afternoon sessions will be held from

12:25 to 1:40.

Special guest for Sunday worship will be Bishop Charles Anderson Scales Jr. of Pittsburgh, founder and overseer of Praise Center Full Gospel Church Association.

Dinner will follow the morning worship.

Gather band in concert today

Will Gather and the Gather Vocal Band will present a concert of gospel music at 6 p.m. today at Life Church, 2400 Jackson Ave., Windber.

Pleasant Hill Baptist sets service, VBS

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 205 Peelor St., Johnstown, will celebrate children’s day during the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Church to observe pastor’s anniversary

The congregation of Scalp Level Church of the Brethren, 270 Hoffman Ave., Windber, will hold a special celebration during the 10:30 a.m. worship service on June 16 to recognize the 20th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. Ronald St. Clair.

A dinner and program will follow.

St. Clair is involved in the United Churches of Windber, Windber Ministerium and Windber Hospice.
