The life, passion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ will be presented through drama and music.
The Passion play “Lamb of God and Soon Coming King” will be presented at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road, Richland Township.
“It’s an amazing story of salvation and hope through Jesus Christ,” said director Kim Miller.
“And if there ever was a time we needed hope, it’s now. Jesus is the only hope there is for us.”
A cast and crew of about 80 people from various churches in the community have worked on putting the play together.
“It’s tremendous to work with people in the community,” Miller said.
“It’s an opportunity to share the same beliefs. It’s exciting, but hard work. I think God blesses those who do as much as those who receive.”
Miller said the play is based on the four Gospels and also will include the current- day life of believers from the book of Acts as well as Old Testament prophecies of Christ.
“His word will not return void,” Miller said.
“My favorite Bible verse is Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
Last year was the first time the fellowship had put on a Passion play for the public in more than 10 years, and Miller said there was a full house every night.
“We had done dramas through the years, but not on a larger scale,” Miller said.
“Last year, we wanted to rebuild and have different people bringing the message in different ways. We looked for new and exciting ways to portray the story.”
Admission is free, but a free-will offering will be taken.
