Bronx Wanderers will journey into Arcadia

JOHNSTOWN — If you wait to get tickets for the upcoming concert of Bronx Wanderers, you may be too late.

The group will bring its style of doo-wop and rock ’n’ roll of the ’50s and ’60s to the area when it takes the stage  at 7:30 p.m. July 26 at Arcadia Theater, 1418 Graham Ave., Windber.

This will be the third year in a row the group has performed at the theater, and tickets are close to a sellout, said Amy Moore, director of public relations at the Arcadia.

“We’re getting a lot of requests,” Moore said. “Don’t wait until that night to get tickets. They’re definitely a crowd favorite.”

She added that there is a video on Arcadia Theater’s Facebook page for anyone who has never seen a performance by the group and wants to check out what the show will be like.

The Bronx Wanderers authentically re-create the hits made famous by Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons and Dion and the classic hits of others from the beginning of rock ’n’ roll in the ’50s and ’60s.

Moore said songs will include “Sherry,” “Run Away,” “Teenager in Love” and songs from the sound tracks of “American Graffiti” and “Happy Days.”

The group also performs current hits by Billy Joel and Cold Play.

Along with the group’s close-knit harmonies is a close-knit family singing them.

Yo Vinny is the leader of the band as well as the father of two of its members.

He also sings lead vocals and plays rhythm guitar and keyboards.

Son Vinny “The Kid” plays keyboard and guitar and is a lead and backup vocalist.

His brother Nicky “Stix” is the group’s drummer and also performs  lead and backup vocals.

The rest of the band features Jimmy “V” Fracassi on lead guitar and backup vocals and John “JT” Tutino on sax, keyboards and backup vocals.

Band members have an enthusiasm and a genuine love of the music they perform, creating an energetic bond with their audiences.

“I saw them for the first time last year, and they greeted the guests after the show and let them take pictures,” Moore said.

“They do the best of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s rock ’n’ roll.”
