Religion in brief | Central City church to ordain local man



-- Holy Trinity

Worship services for Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 Main St., Berlin, will be held at 8 and 10:40 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

-- Johnstown fellowship

Pastor Gary L. Tustin will speak about “A Stirred Heart,” based on Scripture from Exodus 35:21, 26 and 36:2, during the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship services at Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road in Richland Township.

-- Laurel Trinity

Worship service, with Holy Communion, lessons and carols, will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday at Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church, 7520 Somerset Pike, Jennerstown.

Sunday school will begin at 8:45.

Little Angels Daycare will be available from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, with Preschool I from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday and Preschool II from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Bible study will be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday at Coal Miner’s Cafe, followed by Knotty Women sewing at 9 and choir practice at 6 p.m.

T he Christian education and property committee will meet at 7 Thursday.

The Rev. Jason McQueen will preside over worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 258 Mount Hope Road, South Fork.

Sunday school will begin at 10:30.

A worship service of carols and Holy Communion will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Moxham Lutheran Church, 500 Park Ave., Johnstown.

Wednesday worship, with Holy Communion, will begin at 4 p.m. in the Good News Room Chapel.

-- Park Avenue UM

The Rev. Kathleen Schoeneck, pastor of Park Avenue United Methodist Church, 700 Park Ave. in the Moxham section of Johnstown, will speak on “The Light of the World” during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

Paul Smith will be the worship leader.

Wendell and Lynda Johnson will be the greeters.

Sunday school will begin at 9:30.

-- Roxbury church

The Rev. Brian Simmons, pastor of Roxbury Church of the Brethren, 112 Sell St. in the Roxbury section of Johnstown, will speak on “Praise the Lord,” with Scripture from Psalm 148 and Luke 2:41-52, during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service.

The cathedral choir, under the direction of Melanie Shiley, will sing “Mary Had a Baby.”

Laura Krouse, pianist, will accompany the choir.

Choir practice will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by Bible study at 7:15, led by Simmons.
