Religion in brief | Deacon to sign books at St. Benedict

— Deacon Michael L. Russo will sign copies of his newly published work “The Via Dolorosa: A Forensic and Spiritual Treatise on the Salvific Work of Jesus Christ” from 2 to 3:30 p.m. today at St. Benedict Religious Gift Shop, 2227 Bedford St., Johnstown. A blessing of the shop will begin at 1:30.

Berkey church plans spring renewal services

Spring renewal services will be held at 10 a.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday at Berkey Church of the Brethren, 1038 Church Drive, Windber. Jim Myers of White Oak Church of the Brethren will speak.

Wesley UM to host gospel group

The gospel singing group 3 as ! of Asbury Park, N.J., will perform during the 10:45 a.m. Sunday service at Wesley United Methodist Church, Main and Church streets, South Fork.

“It Is Finished!” an Easter cantata, will be presented by  Garrett United Methodist Church choir and friends at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church on Walker Street.

Mass to be celebrated at St. Vincent

Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz of Krakow, Poland, who served as personal secretary to the late Blessed John Paul II through his 27 years as pope, will celebrate Mass at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent Archabbey Basilica in Latrobe.

Life and Justice program at St. Francis

“Vatican II: Why, What, Who Cares?” will be the theme of a program from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 27 at St. Francis University, DiSepio Institute, Loretto.

The Rev. John Durbin, a Spangler native and pastor of St. Jude and St. Mary parishes in Hampstead and Surf City, N.C., will present the program.

Registration is $15 per participant and includes lunch.

Checks can be made payable to Commission for Life and Justice and mailed to Family Life Office, 5379 Portage St., Lilly, Pa. 15938. The deadline is Friday.

Abundant Ministry

The sixth anniversary of Abundant Life Ministry, 707 Horner St., Johnstown, will be celebrated Sunday.

Evangelist Debra Bush will be the morning messenger and Apostle Arthur and Pastor Sabrina Hardison, along with the Works of Deliverance Fellowship family, will be the special guests for the 4 p.m. service.
